Irvine Welsh's original drug-fuelled play set in Edinburgh, Trainspotting was named Best New Play at the Theatre Management Association regional theatre awards, 1995.
Trainspotting played concurrently on tour around the UK and at the Whitehall Theatre in London's West End from March to May 1996 so I have included the tour dates for which Michelle Gomez is proven to have been in the cast as well as those I've extrapolated. The evidence suggests that while Michelle and castmates, Paul Ireland, Peter Ireland and Gavin Marshall, played Whitehall, a new cast, comprising Robin Laing, Gabriel Quigley, Billy Boyd and Paul Riley, had taken over the tour by Plymouth and continued through to Kirkcaldy.
