During the first run of Mae West's play The Pleasure Man in New York in 1928, police raided the theatre and charged the whole cast with indecency. Set backstage of a Vaudeville theatre populated by female impersonators, Michelle Gomez played Dolores, a stage star and love interest of the main character.
