Long-running British sci-fi series about a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey known as The Doctor. Travelling through all of space and time in his TARDIS putting right injustices, the Doctor has a number of enemies but none more pervasive than The Master.
The other "Last of the Time Lords" and the Doctor's childhood friend, the Master was originally played by Roger Delgado and made his first appearance in the third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) episode 'Terror of the Autons' broadcast on 2nd January 1971. A number of incarnations later, the Master returned in 2014, this time as a woman, played by Michelle Gomez, calling herself Missy, short for Mistress.
